What is the best home party to host?
I live in NJ and have had a party lite party already and have been to tastefully simple party and a few others. What is the best type of party to have for a group of 25 to 30 year olds?
Well What I usually do is a theme, it depends on the crowd (guests) what theme is the best.
If you want to keep it tasteful, try something distinguished, like “1001 Arabian nights” or “Candlelight”.
for music tips there are 100′s of resources, but I’d say you need to stick to your personal taste and knowledge of the people that are coming over, and adjust the music accordingly.
The themes i’ve mentioned above are subtle, you don’t have to do ridiculous decorations. Some candles, sashes and music really does the trick.
But in the end… A party and it’s theme is a reflection of it’s host’ taste… It’s merely an advise.
I’ve been involved in home party plan a long time ago. I notice that this business model is no longer available. Even Tupperware have gone away from this business model and gone to a more brick and motar or “cart” in the shopping mall format.
Do you think this home party plan business model is stil viable? Would you particpate or even start a home part plan business yourself?
I found a great work at home company. I’m with Stayin Home and Lovin It! and they are partnered with a wellness company that is 21 years old and in good standing with the better business beaural. The products are all environmentally friendly and safer for you and your family. They have cleaning products, shampoo, soap, candles, toothpaste, acne solutions, make-up, health bars, and so much more. Most products are made of tea tree oil. They have a dis-infectant that is approved for schools and daycares that is so much safer than bleach and smells so good to me. You can do in home parties and I heard those that do do really make money at this. You could make a full income in no time if you really work at it. The best part is you bring people to the company then they can shop on line but you get a commission for everything they buy as long as they buy. No stocking any products or reselling. No risk. I think you will really find this company worth checking into. check out http://healthybetterme.com/
Feel free to contact me anytime for more information. There is so much to tell. And remember to look up every company you consider at search.bbb.org.
I want to start a home party business of my own. I will be purchasing wholesale jewelry on line and selling at these parties. I won’t need a loan because the start-up cost really isn’t more than $1500 so I’ll pay for that myself to avoid loans and all that. But what else do I need to do? What do I need to apply for, or register for, in order to avoid any problems with the law in the future?
Congrats on your interest in starting your own home party business! I admire anyone that ventures into the world of the self employed!
I would suggest the following things be in order before you start.
1. You most likely will need a sales tax license/certificate from Massachusetts. Also maybe a business license. Check with your state for details
2. I would recommend that you purchase wholesale jewelry that is difficult or hard for the average person to find online. You wouldn’t want your customers to find what they bought at a party later on at a greatly reduced price. Would make for difficult future parties.
3. Make sure you have a plan for benefits for the hostess, shipping costs and sales tax on your invoices. You should have invoices professionally printed with your company name and details. I would recommend charging a flat rate of 10% for each order for shipping. This should cover your costs on the jewelry you purchase and have shipped in from the wholesalers.
4. You will need to keep a log of all of your sales and expenses. I also would certainly open a seperate checking account with a debit card so you can deposit all sales proceeds there and use the debit card for wholesale orders. This way everything is nice and neat at the end of the month for record keeping purposes.
5. I would recommend that you go and see an accountant before you start to get some tips and tools for tracking all of this. If you utilize ANY space in your home for your business, that portion of all of your household bills such as utilities, property taxes, etc. will be deductible. You will also want to keep track of all the mileage you drive to parties, stores for supplies etc.
6. HAVE FUN!! You obviously have a passion for jewelry. This is the best way for you to become successful in your own business. I would do some research with some of the manufacturers of jewelry and see how you may be able to have custom pieces developed for your busienss only. You could have one custom piece per month as your monthly special to encourage monthly orders from customers. This would also be a great way to develop a “Jewelry of the Month” club for your customers and most certainly online. Without something custom that only you have, I would not venture much online as what you sell can be found from many other places and profits would be minimal at best.
Hope this helps!

I am not looking to stock and keep a home bar, but I am hosting a party for about 10 to 15 guys. All a little more than just beer drinkers. Some are fruity so the drinks can be too LOL. Any advice on basic necessities and quantities? I’ve never hosted previously and would like to not overshoot and have too much left over. BTW alcohol will be playing into games as well. Realizing that admittedly everyone has different taste, what are some “no-fail” choices?
I am looking for a home party business to start like Pampered Chef or Mary Kay. They all seem to vary so much in what they pay. Can anyone tell me a good company to work for?
The one answer I read was a great one. It depends on what your interests are. You have to love what you are doing in order to do it well I believe. You have to believe in the product you are selling and use the product you are selling. Yes all these companies vary in the pay scale, etc, but again if you don’t like it or are not interested in it, that will translate into your demos. Before I joined Pampered Chef, I looked at a couple of different companies. I even tried one that was 50% commission but it didn’t last. I have always liked PC products and as I have a family I cook a lot so I knew PC would be a good fit for me. I can write off half my grocery bill per month because I try the recipes on my family first. That has been helpful in this economy. So, search yourself and see where your interests lie. If you are leaning towards PC and have more questions, I would be happy to answer them. Right now they are doing a rebate on the starter kit:) cjmcewen@yahoo.com
You can do a search of the products you need from a B2B website. You will get a list of suppliers and their contact details. I suggest you http://www.hellotrade.com
I am going to organise a home party for a group of 3 families. There are about 5 kids ranging from 6-year-old to 15-year-old and adults. Please provide me with some ideas on western food that I can prepare by myself for the party.
I thought of pasta, snacks like sausages, salad, chicken wings, drumlets and what else?
Thank you for your time and effort in replying to my questions.
You could do a pasta salad, meatballs, chicken wings, Chips & Dip, Deviled Eggs, Maybe even make a pulled pork in a crockpot and serve with mini rolls and BBQ sauce for mini pulled pork sandwiches. Chicken salad sandwiches are yummy…I shred chicken, add some mayo, chopped nuts & sliced grapes with a little garlic powder, salt & pepper and buy some small rolls for them.
I had a party back in 2002 and it has some ladies clothing but awesome pajamas and some lingerie but tasteful pajamas and lingerie… it was a home party and you got good product and I am from Saskatchewan and it was a great party… just wondering if anybody has had something like this, there is no toys just night wear!

Was it Petra Home Lingerie Parties? That is the one I remember.
There is also a company called Pampered Passions that does home parties and also has a website.
